August Recap || September Goals

Well, August turned out to be completely different than I expected! For that, I have been a little silent because I have been busy. Keep reading to find out why!

What I Did Do

  1. Started My Own Company. Yep, you read that correctly. This was completely unexpected but it was very necessary to catapult me into being my own boss and working virtually which I have been trying to do for a while now. Mid-August, my company decided to close the location I worked out of. With that, came an unexpected welcome of being able to use that to work my behind off to create something of my own. Thus, welcome to Kal+Co., my new virtual office. You can check me out here, and of course, I am on Instagram and LinkedIn.
  2. Built a Budget. Last month I mentioned that I learned that I am capable of saving money. Beyond that, I have found The Budget Mom. If you don’t know who she is, I would encourage you to go here and see what she is all about. Her ways of saving money, paying down debt and creating a budget that your family needs, not wants is amazing! I have been able to pay off 30% of my debt, I would have otherwise and created a budget that is just right for my household.
  3. Got Rid of My Keurig. Even before my career shift, I decided that the extra money I was spending in my Keurig just wasn’t worth it. Sure, it is convenient but when I drink more than one cup of coffee at a time, it became costly. Since switching to a regular coffee maker, I have saved about $20 over the past month! Roll that into a year, and you have some savings!

What I Didn’t Do

  1. Panic…Too Much. When I lost my job, I had an initial panic on what am I going to do? But, once I put pen to paper, I really found where I could cut costs (which I should have been doing anyway) and where I would be just fine. Even with school starting, I can be in a spot that keeps me grounded until I get fully booked with Kal+Co.
  2. Get My Home Organized. I was really hoping before the kids went back to school, I would be able to get the garage and the basement organized but with the sudden job loss and me pouring a ton of time getting Kal+Co. off the ground, I just haven’t had the energy to pour into organizing. So it will likely get put on the to-do list for September before the winter comes.

What I Learned

  1. I Am Capable of Amazing Things. Once I announced that a) my company eliminated my office and b) I was starting my new adventure, the response was overwhelming. The people who know me the closest are in my corner and are rooting for my success and are wanting what is best of me. They have also let me know how wildly capable I am.
  2. I Am Fearless. There was not a doubt in my mind that I should be doing something else when I decided to do this thing called virtual assisting.

September Goals

  1. Help 2-3 Business Owners. My goal is to help a few business owners this month, whether they are online or brick and mortar with HR, administrative, social media marketing or event planning. I am hoping to help them take back their time!
  2. Prepare for Last 90 Days. Last year I did the #last90days challenge and this year I even bought the start today journal they have to accompany it. It was life changing and I am hoping this will give me just what I need. We all know how much I love the start today journal process and use it daily.
  3. Start the Couch to 5k program. I have been writing in my start today journal that I am going to run a 5k by the end of this year and so this is me committing to making that happen. Friends, sometimes you just have to preach it to the world (or in my case- this little space of my internet) in order to give yourself a little motivation.

Life is so good right now and I am so blessed to be given the opportunity to do something I love. I look forward to showing you all the progress and eventually teaching you how to do things you love to whether they are forced changes or changes you can make on your own. In other news, fall is on it’s way and I couldn’t be more excited for it!

What goals do you have this month?
