I know I have written on my blog before about Seasonal Affective Disorder (also referred to as Seasonal Depression) and the effects it can have on your mental health.
In all my years of working on my mental health, this is something that still shows up, every year. Mostly this happens because I live in Michigan, which, if you live in any Midwest state, or any state that participates in the time change and gets a cold, dark 4-6 months, this has affected you at some capacity.
I have come up with some key phrases that help me daily and I thought that if they help me, they have got to help some of you too.
They are just little things that spring something joyful to mind or remind me that I am worthy of every season of my life, including the seasons that can seem a little daunting.
There is light at the end of this tunnel.
Here are some of the phrases I use:
- You are worthy
- You are enough
- You mean something to someone
- You are beautiful
- Your heart is gold
- Work on today
- Leave tomorrow to worry about itself
- Be a friend to you
- Are you struggling extra hard today? Reach out to someone who makes you instantly happy
- Breathe
- Be who you can be today
- You are loved, you are love
- God is with you
I tend to find myself repeating them in the car, in the shower, or frankly anywhere my heart needs them.
Tell me below, is there a special phrase that helps you get along in the darker times? Please share so we can help others.
